City Agency Assistance
Most problems with city government are not dramatic. A 311 ticket that closes with nothing done. A blighted lot next door. A Sewerage and Water Board bill that makes no sense. A permit stuck in review. We help residents get a response, and we escalate when they do not.
What we help with
- 311 service requests. Filing them so they land with the right department, documenting them, and reopening tickets closed without action.
- Blight and code enforcement. Complaints to Code Enforcement about overgrown lots, unsafe structures, and dumping; related complaints to the Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board and the Department of Public Works; photographing and documenting conditions; following a case to its hearing.
- Sewerage and Water Board. Billing disputes, meter problems, and service complaints.
- Permits, licenses, and other agencies. Finding the right office and the right form, and getting an answer in writing.
How it works
- Tell us the problem, the address, and what you have already tried.
- We identify the agency responsible and the rule it is supposed to enforce.
- We draft the complaint or request, with photos and dates, in a form the agency has to act on.
- We track the case. If nothing happens, we escalate to the agency director, your Council member’s office, or the Office of Inspector General.
We are volunteers, not lawyers. We do not represent you in court or at administrative hearings, but we will help you prepare for one.
